I coach leaders like you to write well, speak grace, and tell your story.
When I read The Diary of Anne Frank in seventh grade, I was hooked—I knew I wanted to write.
I understood that compelling words touched hearts and changed lives, and even a teenager could answer that call.
Beyond the passion for writing, I delighted in a relationship with God and carried a message of hope and grace in Jesus Christ.
Writing is still the passion of my life. I continue to write professionally at work and as a freelancer. While I serve at a Christian organization as Director of Communications and Executive Editor of publications and content, this is my personal blog.
If you spend much time here, you’re probably a writer, seeking to sharpen your communication skills. I help people like you discover their voice, refine their skills, and shape their message.
Only you can tell your story. I can help you build the skills to effectively communicate your message with your unique gifts.
My goals for you? Write well. Speak grace. Tell the story.
My fun facts
Wonder why I write about the topics you’ll find on the blog? Get to know me better through the following trivia.
My Most Exciting Adventures
Filming at Matanuska Glacier was the most exciting adventure I ever embarked on, but going to the Jane Austen Pride and Prejudice film locations in England is right up there on the excitement scale.
My Professional Background
I am a former Dallas radio talk show host—“Saturday Afternoon with Jayme.” Notable guests included Keith Green, Dallas Holm, Jimmy Draper, and more; I also emceed concerts for Amy Grant, Truth, the Imperials, and others.
My Early Athletic Achievements
I’m still kind of proud that when I was a student at West Hurst Elementary School, I broke the city record for the 400-meter run and won the Turkey Trot three years in a row.
I abhor abuse, root for underdogs, and hate legalism–it’s always all about grace!
None of my close friends are persnickety.
I’ll never be a vegan because I love steak.
I like cold-weather destinations for vacation, or wherever my grandbabies happen to be.
I think kindness is a lost art.
My biggest regret is not knowing my mother after I grew up.
Quotes that inspire me
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
“The church benefits when the gifts, talents, perspectives, and life experiences of both men and women are used without artificial restrictions. The church is stronger when men and women can minister together and work side by side.”
“God has specially equipped you and placed you to meet the needs of those around you in meaningful and lasting ways. God likes to perform miracles by using your life—with all its constraints and foibles—to impact a soul not your own.“
“And this is His command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.”
“The Bible has delivered a vision for God’s daughters that is more gloriously expansive and life enriching than we have yet discovered.”
“In Jesus Christ, we receive back what [Adam and Eve] lost. God’s greatest desire is for us to know him and to believe that he has given us everything we need for every aspect of life through relationship with his Son, Jesus Christ.”
“I have come to know… a God of love and beauty who longs for our wholeness. I assumed that surrender to God would involve a kind of shrinking—avoiding temptation, grimly focusing on the ‘spiritual’ things while I prepared for the afterlife. On the contrary, God’s good world presented itself as a gift to enjoy with grace-healed eyes.”
